ARTIST STATEMENT
Holy Cow Series 2007
The Holy Cow series was taken in the summer while in New Delhi, India. In hinduism, the cow is considered sacred and the milk continues to hold a central place in the religious rituals. It is thought to be good luck to give it a snack, but a citizen can be sent to jail for killing or injuring a cow. In honor of their exalted status, the cows often roam free on the streets. The photographs are digital and measure 24X36”.
